Father’s Day today and I can’t celebrate with you. No KFC or fish and chips. I miss you everyday dad and there’s not a day goes by where I don’t think of you. I hope you’re singing your heart out in the Angels choir. Happy Father’s Day dad xxxx

Merry Christmas Dad. A second Christmas without you. There’s not a day goes by where I don’t think of you and I miss you so much. When you left to go to a place that no one knows you left me heartbroken , just like mum did 28 years ago. You would be proud of Josh he’s now in Exeter Airport got his aircraft maintenance apprentice. He’s following in your footsteps . I hope you’re having blast wherever you are and looking down on us all . I will always love and miss you and mum for the rest of my life . Love you always xxxxx

Dad A year ago yesterday I begged the doctors not to send you home as you were clearly really poorly. I brought you home with what they said was muscular pains. With help from our wonderful neighbours we managed to get you in and sat on. We chatted about everything and you only ate one mouthful of your cheese baguette as you were in pain. You struggled to get comfortable so I put pillows behind your back. You were cold so I placed a blanket over you. At 10pm you told me to go to bed and not to sit in the chair beside you, as you were tired. I kissed you goodnight and tucked you in. Your last words were goodnight car, thanks for everything and love you. I’ll shout if I need you. I got up at 6am and you looked fast asleep so I didn’t disturb you by putting any lights on, as I sat with my coffee I could see that you were not moving or making a sound. I came over to your side calling you but you didn’t wake, I touched your hand and you were so cold. You had gone without me there by your side. I’m heartbroken dad , and miss you every minute of every day. I just pray wherever you have gone , enjoy yourself. I will always love you xxx P

Those who knew my Gramp would know how much he enjoyed coming up with little poems - often written in cards and given on special occasions. I wrote this special poem just for him on behalf of all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and everyone who knew him as ‘Grampy.’ ~ FOREVER OUR GRAMPY, FOREVER OUR HERO. So many memories but where do we start, A poem for you that’s come straight from the heart. Everyone who has known you has fallen in love, And now we hope you’re still with us looking down from above. You were the heart of the family just so you know, Loving and generous and helped us all grow. You loved our day trips to Symonds Yat and Barry, With fish & chips and ice cream you’d be happy as Larry. We will miss you singing as loud as you can, Land of my Fathers, Bread of Heaven and Calon lan. The joy you brought playing songs on your organ, We will all drink to you with blackcurrant and Captain Morgan. Let down by doctors and council alike, It was quite a struggle towards the end of your life. But nevertheless you remained strong and kind, You will always be with us in our hearts and minds. We’ll cherish our memories for a long time to come, But we’ll always keep wishing that you could really come home. We’ll love you always and we’re sad to see you go.
